Overview

Laura Malcolm is a graduate of Female Founders Alliance Startup Class. She founded Give InKind in 2016, inspired after experiencing personal loss. The platform has helped thousands of people create care calendars — organizing childcare, pet care, drives to the doctor’s office. Its core is to write wish lists and crowdfund for those experiencing illness, job loss, a new baby and more. Brival was brought aboard this project by its co-founder and CTO - Andy Brennenstuhl, with whom we have worked before. Andy completed the Give InKind equation with long term vision and an analytical approach to technology. We already knew him as a great plannist and had a great experience cooperating with him, so we weren't expecting anything less than a successful project. And, of course, we were not disappointed. Especially since the work concerned a platform extending a helping hand to people in need.

Flexibility

We provided the client with a flexible team extension. The tasks we dealt with as part of the project were mainly WordPress development and quality assurance. Our specialists joined the client's team, coordinating cooperation with our internal Project Manager. Even after the platform was published, we provided its originators with a wide range of technological support for the next year. To this day, Give InKind can count on our ad hoc commitment whenever the need arises.

The established form of monthly settlements, supported by the management of experienced leaders and planning availability in advance, allowed us to develop an extensible engagement.

Scope of Work

The main phase of the project took the Give InKind team several months and concerned the modernization of the platform requiring support in various technological areas. We have helped with updating and restoring the existing codebase with newer and more flexible technologies, including necessary infrastructure enhancements.

To ensure the best possible user experience for the platform, we put a lot of emphasis on making sure everything works flawlessly. Our QA specialists have prepared full documentation of the test cases, on the basis of which the manual tests were carried out. An additional functionality was the introduction of test automation based on the Selenium tool.
